Mar 30, 2025. stream of consciousness, the rain falls, the birds chirp, the cool air bites, all is.
‘God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. The courage to change the things I can. And the wisdom to know the difference.’ – Prayer of Serenity.
To a fanged past,
Listen,
The past is unchangeable. All that we have done, be it good, bad, or neutral, has happened, and it cannot be undone. We are a mosaic of multicoloured ‘doings’.
Each ‘doing’ adds a splotch to the mosaic, with it’s own intrinsic colour, beauty, and lesson. Each splotch adds structure, meaning, and identity to the totality of the mosaic.
When light graces the mosaic, we shine the multicoloured beauty of what it means to be human, nay, what it means to be You.
Do not obscure your colours, for even the ‘mistakes’ add humanity to who you are. It is in the eye of the beholder, You, to see this contributing beauty.
Embody your lesions, whatever they may be, for lesions have an ‘i’ in them, when you find the ‘i’, it becomes a lesson.
Embrace your mistakes, when you take something positive from a mistake it merely becomes a ‘miss’, and that means you attempted and tried in the first place.
Feel no shame for who you are, for darkness and lightness contrast each other, and create a unified beautiful whole.
Your self worth is not lessened by what pains you, but reinforced by it. You are worthy of love for what makes you You.
For this adds meaning to our life.
For this adds colour to our mosaic.
For this adds humanity to who we are.
We are complex beings who act in complex ways that are caused by complex factors. We are human, we grow, we make mistakes, and that is okay. It all contributes to our colour profile.
Now set forth, and BE; there is light to refract.
On embodying the light
What is the light? A element of the divine?
The light is the divine within us, it is the light of compassion that guides us out of the cave of despair, it is the campfire that warms us throughout the night, it is the sun in the sky that wakes us.
The light is grace, humility, understanding, and empathy. The light is the touch that stabilizes. The light warms us, inside and out.
The light is brought forth through understanding of what lead to what was. The winding paths and driving temporarily storms that allowed the past to fall into place.
The light is the calm after the storm, when nature takes a deep breath and returns to self.
The light is radical acceptance. The sun’s warm light is broad and does not discriminate. The sun lights up and warms all regardless of what it is and what it means. The sun shines on the past and the present all the same, it is.
the light is a story of humanity, that we can tell.
The light is brought forth through compassion of the actor. Each move can be better understood from the wider perspective of the play. It is the non-judgemental understanding and accepting of how one turn in the river led to an other turn into the river. It is an deep embrace of the actor regardless of the part they played.
The light is the warm feeling of a hug, telling us all will be ok in the end.
The light is generated from the heart-self. The inner-fire is fuelled by the logs of our self-accepted self. The inner-fire lights up and warms all of the world around us. The transient external storms have nothing on the light as they pass us by, for it is self-providing.
On beholding the light.
A man once told me what truly matters in life. Not the positions or the titles we hold, for those are merely worldly things. Not the money we have or the things we own, for those are weighty worldly things. Not the achievements or the setbacks we have faced, for those are innate things to our being.
He said to me, ‘It is the people you meet along the way, and the capacity we have to connect that truly matters.’
And I learnt his names,
And It was understood.
The common thread between every person in the world is our ability to have a unique selfhood and our belonging to a greater cause, that is humanity.
Humanity is the greatest collection of mosaics, that we all essentially contribute our colours to. The light of unity elicits an incomprehensible show of colours that displays what it means to be human.
Our duty of belonging, is to appreciate and connect with the mosaics of those around us.
For each of us has a story to tell, a beautiful dignified story of weaving colours that marks who we are. And we are blessed with the capacity to hear the stories of other humans, and connect the threads between our works.
For each of us is beautiful in our own way, we must open up and provide the space to understand the other, it is our duty to listen, it is our duty to provide our inner warmth to fuel the inner-fire of our fellows.
For we have had our fire lit, for we understand our inner beauty, for we can see the sheer colourfulness that emanates from our neighbours. It is our responsibility to share some of the warmth, for there will be long cold nights.
For there will be long cold nights.
For there will be long cold nights.
Yet, within them,
Everlasting summer days.
Set forth, there are right things to do right now.
Written in dedication to my Friend and late-night car drives.
