For the past year I have been working on compiling nearly three years of poetry into a book. As it stands, the book has around 200 poems and should be completed and released in late October. Enjoy this teaser.

Foreword

Kit’s poetry hails from a storied pedigree. His relation to poetry– a story in and of itself. In searching for himself, Kit found in the writing and reading of poetry, a means of rehabilitation at a moment’s notice– much in the way that one must breathe in, out, and then in again when out of breath:

Between all this talking,

And dancing,

Watch how weary my heart grows,

Ripped by great distance,

My mind laments,

Teased by fantasy.

(Dance, The Seeker II)

Kit’s muse, though at times unruly, was a fruitful one and one that carried him to the far ends of the Earth; past borders, cultures, language, and time itself. As such, his poetry speaks in many tongues, thinks through many minds, and yet, bestows the very truths that only poetry can.

The poetry presented in the entirety of this collection cannot be neatly confined in any one movement or genre. The pieces touch on poetry’s most ardent and elder themes while dressing in avant-garde structures and mystical extollings. May the Dawns Bring Gold doesn’t simply seek to make the reader privy to what William Wordsworth called “the overflow of powerful feelings,” but rather an active participant carried through spiralling forms, double meanings, and recurring motifs across its sprawling arc. In essence, Kit assumes the role of his own muse and the reader must walk in his footsteps:

You wander,

Old forgotten halls,

Your essence,

Dancing within my skull.

(Wanderer, The Seeker II)

Poetry is an art that inherently rewards the thoughtful reader. May the Dawns Bring Gold is a poetry collection that vehemently rewards the returning reader. A first reading will pull away the veil; subsequent readings will only bespell the reader into not wishing to leave the world beyond it. The honesty and vulnerability presented in these crafted words and curated collection convey an undeniably strong poetic strength. The fortunate reader will find this as a gift. There is the gift of beauty, courage, and guidance found in the dawn of a new day if one seeks it.

Preface

May The Dawns Bring Gold (DBG) is a collection of curated poems which follow a Sufi-like arc of wound to witnessing to faith. DBG pulls from six major collections, as well as a swatch of writings in between (labelled corpus). While each collection is written in its own register and unique context, DBG serves as a “meta-collection” to the collections, where poems have been organized into a broader spiritual narrative as opposed to the individual collection’s purpose. Each poem ends with an attribution tag, which marks the specific collection it was written under.

The first collection, First Steps After Reception (FSAR), was written between November of 2023 and November of 2024 when I was between the ages of seventeen and eighteen. FSAR was inspired by The Bhagavad Gita and Mawlana Rumi’s poetry, which laid much of my spiritual and metaphysical framework. In addition to the Gita and Rumi, Stoicism and Buddhism provided a philosophical framework from which the poetry operated. On a more personal note, FSAR revolved around my musings of love, unity, pain, and humanness. FSAR marked the beginning of my spiritual journey and sense-making which eventually brought me to Sufism.

In addition to FSAR, a rough and unreleased Extended Play album was written and recorded. While the writings within FSAR stretch across a year, the bulk of writings occurred within Jan 2024-June 2024, with a revisiting of sorts occurring in September of 2024. The poetry of that period of my life marked the beginnings of an inner retreat and confrontation.

Embers in The Stream (Embers) was written in April of 2025 during a three day solo road trip. Embers is full of inner conflict and inner voices, which all circle around a deep wound. Such inner conflict both exposed me to the inner darkness I possess, and the lightness I possess. These sides were later codified as the “Secure Side” (Virya, The Witness, The Thoughtful, The Content, The Beloved, The Faithful) and the “Insecure Side” (The Seeker, The Hare, The Veiled One, The Sallatha, and The Wounded One).

Wahim was written in a two week sprint sometime in late July of 2025. It follows one of my strongest limerent experiences, which got wrapped up in my spirituality. In addition to this, Wahim was written at the peak of my internal journey. Thus, Wahim echoes many themes of vulnerability, hurt, and chaos. Seemingly, the name Wahim (with a loose translation of delusion, suspicion, and illusion) came to me one day, whilst in the midst of my strongest limerent episodes… The name stuck.

Dealing with Loss (DWL) follows Wahim, it was written in fifty days between November and December of 2025. DWL is a prose heavy collection that follows my processing of problems related to personal relationships.

I was incredibly overwhelmed while writing DWL, and it shows in the intensity and sprawling nature of my writing. Yet beneath this chaos ran this new narrative, “I will be vulnerable and open with others.”– which resulted in a newfound tenacity to be vulnerable with others, and more importantly, share my poetry.

Crossing comes next. It’s a short collection written between January and March of 2026. What stands out in Crossing is my movement away from maladaptive behaviour. At the heart of this, is a series of five poems detailing a self-confrontation of limerence and anxious attachment.

Lastly, we have Opening the Door (OTD) spanning early April of 2026 to Early May 2026. OTD is quite different— as I’ve moved towards the witness voice “Perception without Prescription”, having written this collection from a place of choice rather than pure “crisis writing.”

DBG was initially started as a therapeutic exercise into the internal voices. Which started sometime in July of 2025, and gradually I started to add my poems into the mix. Until one day, the territory outgrew the map, and DBG was conceptualized. Rather than following my lived experience– as the individual collections do– DBG follows the arc of the soul during post-traumatic growth.

I then started to organize my poems into the aforementioned eleven distinct chapters and slowly an arc started to form, “The arc of a soul moving from wound through witnessing towards faith.” Poetry has been a great comfort of mine, and has been the sole guiding light in several of the darkest storms I’ve faced. I thank you for taking the time to witness my journey.

The Seeker Teaser

Limerence

Do you remember that heated feeling,

Of skin touching skin?

Where time comes to a standstill,

Filled with the beauty of your face.

I stumble on my words,

Landing in the here and now.

As if suddenly,

The past and future don’t matter.

Only you.

All my thoughts,

Circle around you.

Choking any hope,

Of retaining your humanity.

You become an idol.

Everything I could be,

Is related to you.

I cling to this abstraction of you,

I cloak my wounds.

I cover my face,

I live in fantasy.

Yet deep down I know,

This is a delusion.

(Wahim)

The Hare Teaser

Icarus

I love them,

So I pull them close.

Yet I can’t let them love me,

So I push them away.

Like Icarus,

And the sun.

(Wahim)

The Veiled Teaser

Moonlight

Despite the false nature of the moonlight,

I was—

No,

I still am,

Slightly captivated by it.

(FSAR

The Sallatha Teaser

Glass House

I built my house with glass,

Windows, doors, and gaps,

Persist where walls stood,

Just so I can see her pass.

I would scream

“validate me”

My screams would echo,

You don’t notice.

From my screams the glass shatters,

You didn’t even flinch.

To you, I am out of focus,

The house falls down,

You fade away,

And I

Am left in pieces.

(FSAR)

The Wounded One Teaser

Golden Tears

The Wounded One:

I have been shattered,

Long enough,

There is one wish I have,

Take these parts,

Integrate them,

Fuse them with gold,

Let me grow stronger.

The Witness:

I see you.

The Thoughtful:

I know you.

The Content:

I am you.

The Beloved:

I am here for you.

The Faithful:

I hear you.

The Strength:

This forms you.

The Wounded One:

I am present,

I am here,

I am worthy,

I am enough.

Virya Teaser

The Hawk

I see the hawk,

Perched atop a minaret.

Slicing the thin cold air,

Protecting the hide of quiet knowledge.

In this solemn meeting,

A feeling circles.

A coldness,

Departs down the spine,

Diffusing into flesh.

One day,

It’ll all be okay.

(Crossing

The Witness Teaser

Dawn

When I come to die,

I will return,

To the grounds I once walked.

Comforting silence,

Lacking weight,

Envelopes me.

Reminding me of Dawn,

Where distance cools,

And space becomes infinite.

Cloaked in silence,

Resting in nothingness,

As light as the number zero.

Breathe in.

Settle down.

This is where stories begin.

(FSAR)

The Thoughtful Teaser

Memento Mori

End the prayer with praise and memento mori,

For they cannot exist without the other,

And we are interconnected.

(FSAR

The Content Teaser

To Live Is to Die

The unwise make moments last forever,

In spite of our guaranteed departure.

The wise find contentment in absence,

For such duality permits happening.

Do not curse your upcoming death,

You were lucky enough to be entwined.

All true beginnings have an end,

And all true ends have a beginning.

(FSAR)

The Beloved Teaser

The Moon

Between her ask,

And my response,

I turned to the moon,

And saw luminous things.

The past,

The future,

Splitting.

I see myself,

Seeing myself,

I see myself seeming to grasp…

That I can choose,

The direction,

Of these currents.

It will not be easy,

I’ll break a sweat,

Crusading down this path,

Which will make all the difference.

I look her in the eyes.

I feel my younger self

Trying to pull her in…

That younger part of me,

Wants to pull you close,

To forget all this,

To pursue unhealthy things,

What’s easy,

And immediate.

No,

I will not abandon myself.

The moon breaks the clouds,

I ask for closure,

And the ice collapses.

(Crossing

The Faithful Teaser

The Parable

Men!

I wish to open this night,

With a talk about fine affairs.

My reunion is coming soon,

And with that,

My retirement from this worldly occupation.

Now men!

Don’t cry too much,

Curfew is still at 0600 sharp!

And for the attuned,

In this crowd,

I’ll be in your hearts,

A little to the left.

It’s been an honour to serve you,

Gather closely now.

Lads,

While living life,

Spilling blood is an unfortunate necessity.

But to share blood–

Wounds, and scars,

That is prophetic.

(Embers)

The Sangha Teaser

Note, The Sangha is an additional chapter.

Held

We’ve been here for hours,

Sharing tea over our grief.

I know what built you up,

And tore you down.

I open my door,

And let your light in.

I feel the urge to break down.

I ask for permission,

You give it.

You start to turn,

To give me privacy.

I stop you,

I hold open my door,

I ask you,

To hold what I alone cannot.

Between us rests,

Human Awkwardness.

I lay my head against your navel,

Your arm caresses my back.

My arms wrap around your legs,

And your chin rests on my head.

A single tear rolls down my cheek,

All I can hear,

Is the sound of your heartbeat,

And the whispers of a bird,

Filling 1 am’s silence.
